Background:
- Forget about the bush burning blue like in the Prince of Egypt
- In v. 14-15, "I AM" and "LORD" refer to the Hebrew Yahweh, which is associated with the personal/relational character of God vs. Elohim, the transcendent Creator of all things
Questions:
- How does God feel about human suffering?
- What's stopping Moses from saying yes to God's calling? How does God answer Moses?
- Would you have more questions for God, or would you just go?
Comments:
- Notice in v. 8, God comes down to us
- When Moses is in doubt, God promises Himself
Moses doubts God's calling because he feels insignificant - no one will listen to him, especially after his bad record of murder in chapter 2. God answers by telling Moses to trust that God (yahweh) is with him. by using Yahweh, God shares His personal/relational side with Moses. God also says He will be glorified after all is done.
ReplyDeleteI encourage you to follow God when He calls you to leadership. my doubts were the same as Moses' when I was invited to serve on core. I'm constantly having to have faith that God will use me well as prayer core because I don't really know what I'm doing.
question:
what's the significance of taking off sandals on holy ground? why just the sandals?
Trying to keep up!
ReplyDeletehope ya'll are having a great summer post-recweek.
