Just a reminder, inductive Bible study starts with good observations, that lead to good questions, that then hopefully lead to correct interpretation/application.
Background:
- Abraham fathered Isaac, who fathered Jacob (aka Israel), who then fathered 12 sons (known as the 12 tribes of Israel)
- God's covenant/agreement with Abraham written in Genesis 12:1-3
- If you want to read about how Israel came to be in Egypt, read the story of Joseph in Genesis 37, 39-47
- The Midianites were the descendants of Abraham through his wife Keturah
Some questions to consider as you read:
- How does the fear of man and the fear of God influence how people act? Look at the Egyptians, midwives, Moses' parents, and Moses.
- How does God bless and protect His people?
